On Wednesday, 3 November, The Slow Cyclist founder Oli Broom, hosted an online conversation talking about his recent Slow Cyclist trip through the Taurus Mountains of Turkey. Fresh back from his travels, he discussed how the trip to the region rejuvenated and renewed his love of travel, reflecting on how this area of Turkey, so far from the usual tourist trail, captures the heart of what makes Slow Cyclist trips special.

Talking about how the journey came about, the people who look after our guests on the ground, and his favourite moments. If you joined us, thank you for coming. If you missed it, here is the recording in full.

Why We Go to the Taurus Mountains

The Taurus Mountains stretch for 500km across Turkey, and the part we travel through sees very little tourism. It is a long way from the country's cities and beach towns. Over five nights, you pass through cedar and cypress forests, apple orchards and rose fields, then ancient trails on mountains where the black goat-hair tents of Yoruk nomads sit on the hillsides. There are wild swims in rivers, creeks and forest pools along the way. Two nights are spent in our private tented camp in what we liek to call the magic valley - a unique and incredible place that is often the highlight for guests.
