Travel Advisors
Since 2015, we at The Slow Cyclist have been crafting and leading immersive electric bike journeys far from the tourist trail. Shaped by years of exploration and deep local relationships, our journeys bring joy, foster connection, and leave a positive mark on the communities and wild landscapes we pass through. We currently work with Travel Advisors from a number of host agencies and consortia and we'd love to work with you too.
Our Difference
What makes a journey with The Slow Cyclist so special?
For over a decade, Slow Cyclists have been telling us what they love most about travelling with us and why they keep coming back. The same things come up again and again: travelling far from the tourist trail; the feeling of unearthing a region's secrets; the quality and warmth of our local guides and hosts; being looked after like friends, not clients. We've tried to distil all of that into The Slow Cyclist Difference and we hope it helps you and your clients understand why Slow Cyclists return year after year.
How to Travel With Us
Your clients can travel with us on either a Scheduled or Private trip.
Scheduled trips are listed here on our website and offer a wonderful opportunity for your clients to explore somewhere new in the company of like-minded travellers. Most Scheduled trips are made up of solos, couples and small groups of friends, with the whole group never exceeding 12 in size. The alternative is to travel privately. In this case, whether your clients are drawn to one of our existing itineraries or have something entirely different in mind, our team will work with you to craft a journey around their specific interests, budget and group size. We know our destinations inside out, and that local knowledge is what makes a private trip with us feel truly personal. Browse example itineraries across all our destinations or get in touch to start a conversation.
Booking & Commission
We respect the relationships you have with your clients.
Bookings can be paid for in USD, GBP or Euros. When your client travels with The Slow Cyclist, you become their named adviser in our system, meaning you earn commission on their first and all future bookings. The rate of commission we offer is based on total booking value with The Slow Cyclist in any given year, calculated at the time of your latest client booking. Commission ranges from 10-15% of gross booking value.
Co-Branding
We know how much your relationship with your client matters.
That’s why we’re delighted to be able to co-brand itineraries and quotes with your agency's logo and contact details, so the experience feels seamless from your desk to ours. Equally, we're happy to enable you to drop our itineraries into longer itineraries you may wish to present to your clients or client base for marketing purposes.
Join us on Tour
The best way to understand what it's like to travel with The Slow Cyclist is to experience it yourself.
We host a small number of Travel Advisors on our trips each year, offering exclusive rates so you can experience firsthand what your clients will love, and return home ready to sell it with confidence. We do this on dedicated FAM departures to select destinations or, where our FAM dates don't work, for individual Travel Advisors on one of our Scheduled Trips, which you can choose from here.
Travel Advisor FAQ
The booking process is the same for both Private and Scheduled Trips. An enquiry from a Travel Advisor for either requires the following steps to be taken:
Step 1
A phone consultation with one of our Guest Experience (GE) team. Emelye, Emma and James can all be reached on +44 (0) 1865 410 356 during UK working hours, or by contacting them by email. They are each destination experts in the following countries:
James - [email protected] - Armenia, Italy, Norway, Poland, South Africa, UK
Emma - [email protected] - Greece, India, Spain, Turkey
Emelye - [email protected] - France, Portugal, Romania, Rwanda
Step 2
Following your phone consultation/s, the relevant member of our GE team will send you a draft itinerary and pricing (or a range of itineraries and prices), leaving you to present the information as you wish to your client. Please note that we are able to co-brand itineraries if you would like to share the original with your clients.
Step 3
Once your clients have decided where they'd like to travel, we'll send you a final itinerary. In order to take the booking we need their names, rooming preferences, and Travel Advisor email address (assuming you'll be handling the admin side of the booking). We'll then send over a payment link. A 30% deposit is required on booking. Payment can be made in USD, GBP or Euros; we just ask that the currency is agreed in advance.
Step 4
16 weeks before the trip the Travel Advisor will receive a Travel Guide detailing everything your client needs to know in advance of their time with us. 10 weeks before the trip we require payment of the 70% balance.
Step 5
Commission is paid by TSC to the Travel Advisor within 15 days of the trip start date.
Payments can be made by either you or your client in US Dollars, Euros or British Pounds.
We believe the best travel experiences are the ones where you don’t have to think about anything, and can focus on having a great time. That is why we include more than every other travel company out there. That is, basically everything is included and you can learn more here about what we mean.
No. Typically we include everything, so that your clients can relax and enjoy their time with us instead of thinking what they need to pay when. The exception is tips or gratuities, which are always optional. You can read more about what's typically included here.
Of course, The Slow Cyclist is not the right fit for everyone. That said, since 2015 we have found that the vast majority of Slow Cyclists say they've never experienced this level of care, attention and hospitality anywhere else. We've tried to be clear about how we differ from our competitors here on The Slow Cyclist Difference page of our website.
Over the years we have hosted solos, couples, groups of friends, we've hosted single sex groups, corporate groups, multi-generational families and big birthday celebrations for up to 50 guests. That said, our bread and butter, making up around 70% of our business in any given year, has always been private groups of up to 12 guests. Those who have travelled with us include CEOs and investment bankers, aristocrats and rock stars and every type of person in between. The most common thread that binds our guests is a desire to meet new people and experience new places, not from behind a car windscreen but from the saddle of an electric bike or on foot.
In short, no. Most of our guests would not define themselves as cyclists. They just enjoy cycling, as a way of exploring new places and of course, getting some exercise. We do have a variety of trips for potential travellers to choose from, ranging from Activity Level 1-5, so there is something for everyone.
All Scheduled trips are electric bike only. The type of e-bike depends on the terrain mix of a specific trip, but all trips are either hybrid or mountain bike. On Private Trips travellers can choose in advance between a regular or electric bike, although it's often better if the whole group chooses one or the other.
