2025: The Year Ahead at The Slow Cyclist

As another year slides by, you’ll see from our calendar below that we’re looking forward with great anticipation to the next. And we hope you are too!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year from all of us at The Slow Cyclist.

Views of mountains and lakes in Rwanda as seen on a Slow Cyclist journey

January

2025 kicks off with a couple of rides in Rwanda; we’re excited to be staying at a camp in the Rugezi Marshes that is the centre of a project, supported by TUSK, to protect the crested crane population. Closer to home, we’ll be welcoming our guides from across Europe for a few days of team-building and training in Oxfordshire.

Pelicans flying through Romania's Danube Delta, where Slow Cyclists visit

May

Join our first ever journey, on foot and by boat, in Romania’s Danube Delta. Guided by ecologist, amateur ornithologist and long-term Slow Cyclist favourite Mişu, this is the best time to see many of the delta’s extraordinary array of bird species.

June

With wildflower season well and truly under way in Transylvania, we also head further north to take on a section of Bucovina’s Via Transilvanica. A challenge, but so rewarding, with extraordinary painted monasteries to enjoy along the way. If you’d like to explore Bucovina at a more leisurely pace, join us as an extension to your Danube or Transylvania journey.

August

No rest for the wicked. High summer is always a time for reflection for us at HQ. How can we keep improving?

September

The cycling Road World Championships head to Africa for the first time; specifically Kigali, Rwanda. Epic cycling in the Land of a Thousand Hills and we’re running a trip to coincide with it. In Europe, our autumn season begins as the summer sun starts to cool. The perfect time to visit Poland, the Spanish Basque and Abruzzo.

October

The Kardamyli Festival returns to Greece’s Mani peninsula for its fifth edition. In Transylvania our Founder Oli will be marking 10 years since The Slow Cyclist’s first trip with a special adventure in Romania. More on that very soon.
